The Art exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to appreciate Stretford Community’s renovation of their Public Hall and to see it put to such excellent use as the venue for the artisans and craftpeople of the community. A very extensive array of art will be showcased including photography, installation, sculpture, paintings and ceramics made locally and from the wider region also . The show is curated by the Stretford Arts Collective who organise this event. The show includes works from Gorse Hill Studio young artists group and drawings and paintings from the Drawing Social Club at the Limelight Centre in Trafford.
There will be an opening celebration featuring local Djs and the exhibiting artists have donated artwork which will be auctioned at the opening to raise funds for the ongoing renovation of the public hall. Entrance is free on the opening night and on Saturday from noon until 6pm and Sunday from noon until 4pm . Volunteers will be serving tea and coffee and cake.
The residents of Stretford launched a massive appeal only 5 years ago when the Public Hall was put up for sale and was under possible threat of demolition. A successful community campaign saved the Hall and it is now owned and run by the community for community purposes.
