Planet Ice Altrincham Skate Rink
Open every day of the week and with skate hire, this is a wonderful place for the whole family to have a day of fun. It is close to the centre of town and easy to find, the rink is state of the art with regular parent and toddler sessions and penguin skate aids for the children to skate safely while they learn. Snacks and a restaurant are on site for drinks or a meal, baby changing facilities and plenty of parking. There are endless things to do here – have lessons and learn to skate in three to 5 days , see the new ice spectacular Sleeping Beauty on Ice, have your birthday party here, watch Manchester Storm Ice hockey team in action or learn how to play ice hockey yourself. There is really something for everyone and is a perfect place to come when it is cold and rainy outside.
The Stamford Quarter in Altrincham has a selection of bigger high street stores such as H and M, Monsoon and Marks & Spencer,Next and Wilko and many small local shops with unique goods. The centre of Altrincham and its shopping area has recently received a huge economic injection from the new hospital in the town centre. As a result all the shops in the area are thriving and many new shops bars and eating places have opened and provide a huge variety of things to do in the centre of Altrincham. The central area of the Quarter is pedestrian only and as a result it is a pleasant and traffic free area to shop and to eat.
The Stubborn Mule Brewery
Altrincham Market was established in 1290 and today is a very busy market with both indoor and outdoor sections and offers a wide range of merchandise. it is a major market for the area with many high end traders and visiting traders on a rotational basis. It is open on Tuesday and Thursday to Sunday. The food hall is known as the Market House is closed Mondays but open every other day from 9am to 10pm except Sunday when it closes at 4pm. It is a very popular place to eat and gets very busy most days there is a full market on Tuesday and Saturday, half market only on Friday and Thursday is bric a brac. The market was the winner of The Observer’s Best Market award in 2015 and was a finalist in the BBC Food & Farming Awards in 2016.
Sunday is a very special day at Altrincham Market with live music throughout the day and each week of the month themed to bring specialist stall holders to Altrincham, again with an emphasis on regional talent, and products you won’t find anywhere else
